According to police, early Wednesday June 24, just after midnight a group of local high school students attended at an “Prom after-party” in the area of Tice Rd and Maple St, in the Town of Pelham. A small group of youths from Niagara Falls also attended the party. It appears as if some students were drinking alcohol.
At approximately 3 am, a disturbance broke out amongst the students from Pelham and Niagara Falls. An 18 yr. old male victim was assaulted in the face and torso, until he was knocked down, where he was repeatedly kicked into unconsciousness. The victim received a brain hemorrhage, a black eye, broken nose and scrapes/ bruising.
Another 18 yr. old Welland male was then attacked after he tried to stop the attack. He was dragged away and punched by a group of youths until he fell to the ground, where he was repeatedly kicked. He suffered a black eye, scrapes and bruising from the attack.
A third 17 yr. old male victim from Wainfleet was then attacked by one of the males. The victim had his shirt ripped off, his gold chain stolen and was assaulted and choked. The male suspect demanded the victim’s wallet, stating that he was robbing him. The victim suffered no injuries from the attack.
The male suspect was also involved in a dispute with a 18 yr. old Pelham girl. The male had a 4′ steel pole and attempted to swing it at the female. The female victim managed to get away before being struck by the male. She was not hurt from the attempted attack.
A fifth 17 yr. old Pelham male victim was also assaulted by a male who “head-butted” the victim in the face, causing his nose to fracture.
This investigation was handled by Detectives from the Central Region, along with assistance from the #3 District School Resource Officer, Street Crime Unit and Uniform Officers from #2 District. During the past several days, numerous persons have been charged with various offences. They are listed below:
Charged is Brandon BIRD, 19 yrs. of Niagara Falls with Aggravated Assault/ Assault and Fail to Comply with Probation.
A 17 yr. old Niagara Falls male has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault. He cannot be named due to the provisions of the YCJA.
Mohamad RIZK, 18 yrs. of Niagara Falls is charged with Robbery/ Aggravated Assault/ Assault and Assault with a Weapon.
A 17 yr. old female with No Fixed Abode has been charged with Aggravated Assault.
Youseff RIZK, 20 yrs. of Niagara Falls is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
Andrew DANELUIK, 19 yrs. of Niagara Falls is charged with Aggravated Assault/ Assault and Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
All parties were held in custody pending the outcome of a Bail Hearing, except for Youseff RIZK, who was released on a OIC/ PTA.
