According to police, on Thursday June 25th 2015, members of the Special Enforcement Unit had occasion to attend the area of Lakeshore Road near Crescentwood Drive in the City of St. Catharines due in part to numerous safety concerns.
There is an extensive and on-going construction project underway which is causing traffic slowdowns and detours. The construction company has provided proper signage and temporary traffic control. Officers remained on-scene to assist with traffic control and noted dozens of vehicles disregarding both the signage and the temporary traffic signal.
In addition to the dozens of warnings given to drivers, thirteen Provincial Offence Notices were issued for various Highway Traffic Act violations.Drivers are reminded to be aware of the new signage, temporary traffic lights and traffic personnel in construction zones and to use caution as new traffic patterns and delays are expected. Please use patience or find an alternate route.
Construction in this area is expected to continue with an expanded delay at the intersection of Lakeshore Road and Lake Street on Friday June 26th.
