Police say at approximately 3:00 PM on Wednesday June 10th, 2015 the Niagara Emergency Medical Services, Niagara Regional Police Service and Niagara Falls Fire Services were dispatched for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Drummond Road north of Dunn Street in the City of Niagara Falls, within the Region of Niagara, Ontario.
Initial investigation revealed that a 31-year-old Niagara Falls male was walking on the sidewalk, southbound on Drummond Road when he came into contact with the side of a 2005 International dump truck that was just pulling away from a job site at this location. The dump truck then ran over the male. The driver of the dump truck stopped and workers were unable to assist this pedestrian who suffered fatal injuries.

The deceased male has been identified as Kenneth Goertzen. At the request of the family, Police are asking that the public please respect their privacy at this time. The Niagara Regional Police would also like to thank Victim Services Niagara for their quick response and assistance to persons affected by this incident.
This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police Services Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Services Unit.
