On Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 at 2:10 PM, an elderly woman (83 years-of-age) was robbed of her jewelry while walking through the parking lot at a local mall.
The victim had just exited the Wal-Mart Store located at the Lincoln Mall, 525 Welland Avenue in the City of St. Catharines when she was approached by a lone female who asked for directions to the hospital. The victim pointed in the direction of the hospital, indicating that it was on the other side of the City. The culprit then pushed the victim causing her to lose her balance and strike her forehead on her “hand-held walker”.
At this point, the suspect then removed a ring from the victim’s finger and three gold necklaces from around her neck and threw a small pouch (bag) at her stating that there was jewelry in it from Turkey before driving off in a dark coloured vehicle that was parked close by (make and model unknown).
The suspect is described as a female, possibly of Filipino descent, approximately 40 years-of-age, 163 cm (5′ 4″) tall, slender build with black hair, wearing dark clothing.
Anyone who witnessed this cowardly act is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service.
