Police say that on April 30th, 2015 the Niagara Regional Police entered into a theft investigation, where an elderly couple were targeted.
A female posing as a personal support worker approached the couple, while at the hospital for an extended stay. The female would attend the hospital on a daily basis and talked about setting up home care after being discharged. The female attended the elderly couples residence on several occasions and stole over $14,000 in jewelry, cash and a credit card.
Eastern Region Detectives later recovered the jewelry and credit card.
43 year old Nancy OUELLET stands charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000, Theft of Credit Card and two counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.
The Niagara Regional Police would like to remind members of the public to be mindful when allowing persons unknown to them offering services.
