The Niagara Regional Police would like to warn residents to lock their doors.
Police are urging residents to take precautions in light of two recent overnight break and enters into West Lincoln area homes while the occupants were at home sleeping. During these incidents, unknown suspect(s) gained entry into an attached garage via an unlocked exterior door. Suspect(s) then made their way into the residence via an unlocked interior door from the garage. Items taken included such items as electronics, a purse along with other valuables.
TIPS to consider to prevent such crimes:
Ensure your windows and doors to your residence are secure. This includes locking the door leading into the residence from the garage.
Lock your vehicle doors if parked outside and keep exterior home lights on overnight.
Remove garage door openers from vehicles parked outside and ensure garage door openers are placed in the “lock” position overnight.
Dont leave any valuables, especially car keys in plain view from the outside of your home.
The public is being asked to contact Police immediately if they notice any suspicious activity involving any persons or vehicles.
