Since late March 2015, members of the Niagara Falls Street Crime Unit initiated an investigation in to a number of commercial break and enters to industrial compounds within the City of Niagara Falls.

Between March 28th and April 7th 2015, a total of six locations had been targeted for items including tools and construction equipment.

As a result of the investigation, Detectives identified a suspect and began surveillance.  On Monday April 13th, with the assistance of the Intelligence Unit and Uniform Officers, members of the Niagara Falls Street Crime Unit arrested two suspects after they freshly departed from committing two break and enters to commercial compounds.  As a result of the arrest, a variety of tools were recovered and subsequently returned to their owners.

Lead investigator Detective Matt Catherwood stated that these incidents of theft disrupte our local businesses and will not be tolerated.

According to police, 45 year old Jason PERKINS is charged with 11 counts of Break and Enter and one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.

PERKINS is expected to be facing additional charges pending further investigation.

Also charged is 45 year old Daniel GAUTHIER, charged with two counts of Break and Enter and one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.

Both PERKINS and GAUTHIER are being held for a bail hearing.
