On Wednesday, March 11, 2015, members of the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) conducted Rural Speed enforcement across the region. As a result, 31 people were charged with Highway Traffic Act Offences. These included an unlicenced driver, a driver going 36 over the limit and one driving 90 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. In addition to these speeding offences there were also drivers charged with distracted driving for being on their phones while driving.
Police would like to remind the public that during this time of year road conditions can change rapidly and the shoulders of roads are often soft and/or ice covered. As always, drive according to the conditions and arrive at your destination safely.
