In 2012, members of the Niagara Regional Police Sexual Assault Unit entered into an investigation involving historical sex offences committed against young boys during the 1980’s in the town of Fenwick. As a result, police say William (Red) Child was charged with a number of historical sex offences.
In December of 2014, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Sexual Assault Unit re-opened the investigation after a number of new victims disclosed abused suffered in the 1970’s.
As a result on this investigation, on Thursday March 5, 2015, William (Red) Child, of the town of Fenwick was arrested and charged with fourteen new historical sex offences. This included seven counts of Indecent Assault on a Male and seven counts of Gross Indecency.
Child was held in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Friday March 6, 2015 in the city of St Catharines.
