On March 3, 2015 at approximately 3:30PM the Niagara Regional Police Service along with officials from Niagara Emergency Medical Services and the Niagara Falls Fire Service responded the Fallsview Casino at 6380 Fallsview Boulevard in Niagara Falls. Reports from the Casino were that a distraught man had scaled a safety railing in the area of the food court.
The man was quickly located by Fallsview Casino staff and initial contact was made. Members of the Niagara Regional Police Casino Patrol Unit and members of the Ontario Provincial Police Casino Unit arrived on-scene and commenced negotiations with the man.
The Niagara Regional Police Crisis Negotiator Team arrived a short time later and took over negotiations and the area around the food court was closed as a safety measure.
Negotiations continued till approximately 5:35 pm when the man agreed to return to a safe area.
The man was subsequently apprehended under the Mental Health Act of Ontario and transported to an area hospital for further assessment and treatment.
The distraught man has been identified as being a third party delivery person for a vendor in the Casino.
There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
