The Chetwood Street Investigation is being declared a Homicide.
On Monday February 23, 2015 at approximately 3:20 PM the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to 13 Chetwood Street in St. Catharines. Police had responded along with Paramedics and Fire officials.
The body of a female was located within the residence. As a result of the ongoing investigation, the Niagara Regional Police Service will now be treating this investigation as a homicide.
The identity of the deceased female has been confirmed as being the resident of the home, 29 year old Jessica L. Scanlon.
Police say a post mortem was conducted in Hamilton at the direction of the Coroner. The results of the post mortem will not be made available to the public.
The Chetwood Street home is being held as a crime scene as the investigation continues by Homicide Unit investigators.
The public is asked, as always, to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings and personal safety while investigators are following up on all leads. There are no indications at this time that the public are at risk because of this incident.
