Saturday Night Live celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year (can you believe it?!) and to mark the occasion, NBC will air a three-hour special on Sunday February 15 that promises to be an amazing blend of performers past and present.
The three and a half hour special will start at 8pm (ET/PT, red-carpet special at 7 ET/PT) and feature the following cast:
Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Paul Simon, Taylor Swift, Emma Stone, Melissa McCarthy, Jerry Seinfeld, Robert DeNiro, Steve Martin, Jack Nicholson, Jim Carrey, Alec Baldwin, Christopher Walken, Tom Hanks, Betty White, Jon Hamm, Zach Galifianakis, Paul Rudd, Kerry Washington, James Franco Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning
AND Former cast members: Jimmy Fallon, Chevy Chase, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Molly Shannon, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Amy Poehler, Dana Carvey, Chris Rock, Kristen Wiig, Dan Aykroyd, Garrett Morris, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short, Andy Samberg, Bill Murray, Bill Hader, Jane Curtin, Laraine Newman, Seth Meyers, Jason Sudeikis, David Spade, Fred Armisen, Norm Macdonald as well as Justin Timberlake who has been on more than a few GREAT skits in the past (although he apparently is not doing music this time around)!
Viewers will also be able to check out the first glimpse of some of the earlier SNL improvised test footage from the mid 70’s.
According to SNL creator Lorne Michaels, “We’re doing the most we’ve ever done on an anniversary show, yet unlike regular shows, there’s no time for a dress rehearsal .”
SNL has certainly had its strong and weak points through the years, but one thing is for sure and that is its staying power!
Be prepared for some amazing entertainment by some of the people that broke ground when it comes to comedy!
