Police report that three 16 year olds are in custody following a bomb threat made today at Sir Winston Secondary School in the City of St. Catharines.
At approximately 1:30pm, school staff received a call indicating that a bomb was inside the school.
The school was immediately placed into a lockdown while emergency services responded.
A search of the school was conducted and when the incident was determined to be false, further investigation led to the identity of three youths who were located nearby and placed under arrest.
All are being charged with Public Mischief and Uttering Threats.
An emergency protocol between police and schools in the Niagara Region has been in place for several years.
This incident was resolved in less than two hours due to the partnerships that exist in the community.
