Since December of 2014 Members of the St. Catharines Street Crime Unit have been investigating 2 residences for selling drugs within meters of a local high school.

On Tuesday January 6th, 2015 the investigation was concluded, and as a result of the investigation search warrants for 2 apartments at a Catherine Street apartment building were obtained.

At 3:50 pm the warrants were executed and several people were taken into custody without incident. Police searched both residences and say they located crack cocaine, marihuana, hash, and prescription medication with a street value of $1,700.00. Police also seized a small amount of cash.

Charged with 5 Counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and 1 Count of Possession of Proceeds are 26-year-old David Laverdiere, and 62-year-old Raymond Laverdiere. Also charged with 2 Counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance is 49-year-old Giovanni Elia. All three will be attending a bail hearing on January 7th, 2015.
