In late December of 2014 police began investigating multiple residential break and enters that occurred in the Pelham, Fonthill, Welland area. These break and enters occurred during the daytime hours and showed numerous similarities.
Police say as a result of an investigation by the Welland Street Crime Unit, two parties were arrested on Friday January 2, 2015. They subsequently searched two residences in Welland, Ontario and seized large amounts of property believed to be stolen. At this time the property is believed to be valued at over $20,000 and includes electronic equipment, jewellery, mobile communication devices, perfume, purses and more. A large amount of the seized property has been identified but investigation is continuing to identify the owners of the other property.
As a result of the investigation Kristopher Hodgkins, a 36 year old resident of Welland, Ontario is charged with 5 counts of Break, Enter, and Commit contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada, while his sister, Jennifer Hodgkins, a 39 year old resident of Welland, Ontario is charged with 3 Counts of Break, Enter, and Commit. Kristopher Hodgkins is being held in custody for a bail hearing on January 3, 2015 while Jennifer Hodgkins was released on an Officer in Charge Promise to Appear.
