According to Police, Niagara Falls Street Crime Detectives received information regarding a residence in Niagara Falls where unregistered firearms were believed to be stored. Drug users were known to frequent this address, and as a result, the residence was the subject of many assaults and robberies.
A Criminal Code Search Warrant was sought by Detectives for the residence. With the assistance of the Emergency Task Unit, 2 District Criminal Investigation Branch and Uniform Officers, the warrant was executed successfully. One male was arrested inside without incident. Police say detectives located numerous prohibited knives, ammunition and a Mauser Model 98 rifle. As a result the accused was charged and held for a Bail Hearing.
Charged is 50yr old Lee Rivard of Niagara Falls. Rivard faces charges of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Unauthorized possession of a weapon. The investigation continues.
