The Niagara Regional Police Service took part in Operation Impact over the Thanksgiving long weekend. Operation Impact concentrated on aggressive driving, seatbelt check points and impaired driving in areas identified as “high collision areas”.
Over 100 provincial offence notices were issued for highway traffic act offences in Niagara region over the weekend. Four impaired driving charges were laid, and 11 other criminal charges related to driving. One fatality occurred during the long weekend as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
