On Thursday September 18, 2014, at approximately 2:30 pm, Niagara Regional Police Uniform Officers responded to a Robbery call at Petro Canada Gas Station, located at 195 Niagara St in the city of St.Catharines.
A lone male suspect approached the counter, and demanded money while brandishing a knife. The suspect is described as 5’8″, 150-160 lbs, 30-40 years of age, with scruffy facial hair. The suspect wore black sunglasses, a black hoodie and blue jeans, and left the scene on a dark blue or black bicycle after receiving an undisclosed amount of money. The incident did not result in any injuries, and was captured on the gas station surveillance cameras.
UPDATE:
Further investigation by members of the 1 District Detective Office and Uniform Branch led to the identification and arrest of 31 year old St. Catharines resident Tyler Castellan. As a result of the aformentioned Robbery, Castellan was charged with Robbery, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. At the time of this Robbery Castellan was bound by a Probation Order after having been convicted of a previous Robbery. As a result Castellan was further charged with two counts of Failing to Comply with his Probation Order. Castellan was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing at 59 Church St, St. Catharines.
